Farhan Akhtar Leaves Lalkaara as Sidhant Gupta Joins Aamir Khan Film
Aamir Khan and Ashutosh Gowariker’s upcoming cricket drama Lalkaara has received a major casting change, with Sidhant Gupta stepping in after Farhan Akhtar’s exit from the acting role.
Farhan Akhtar has reportedly withdrawn from acting in the upcoming sports drama Lalkaara due to scheduling conflicts, while actor Sidhant Gupta has been finalized as his replacement.
Reports suggest Farhan had to step away from the project because of his commitments to an upcoming biographical film based on legendary music composer R.D. Burman.
The actor was expected to undergo extensive preparation for the role, requiring significant time and dedication. At the same time, Lalkaara demanded months of cricket training and a lengthy shooting schedule.
Due to overlapping timelines, Farhan decided to prioritize the R.D. Burman project and exit the acting part in Aamir Khan’s film.
Despite leaving the cast, Farhan remains connected to Lalkaara as a producer. He and Ritesh Sidhwani are backing the film through Excel Entertainment, along with Rajkumar Hirani Films.
Following Farhan’s departure, Sidhant Gupta has joined the project. The actor, known for his performances in Inside Edge, Jubilee, Black Warrant and Freedom at Midnight, will reportedly play the role of one of Aamir Khan’s close friends in the film.
Lalkaara is set against the backdrop of the historic 1952 India-Pakistan Test cricket series. The film marks the reunion of Aamir Khan and Ashutosh Gowariker after their acclaimed collaboration on Lagaan.
The movie has been written by Piyush Gupta, who worked on films like Dangal and Chhichhore, along with Neeraj Singh, known for Nil Battey Sannata.
Aamir Khan will portray Lala Amarnath, India’s first Test cricket captain after independence. Production is expected to begin with filming planned in Mumbai.
With a powerful team of filmmakers and a historic cricket story, Lalkaara remains one of the most anticipated upcoming Bollywood sports dramas.
