The poster, released on July 30, featured Kanikka Kapur alongside Karan Deol. Soon after its launch, several social media users reacted to Kanikka’s traditional look and said her appearance reminded them of Kiara.
In the poster, Kanikka was seen wearing a floral outfit paired with a light brown dupatta and a simple makeup style. Many fans commented that they initially mistook her for Kiara Advani.
Sharing the poster on Instagram, Kanikka announced the film’s theatrical release and wrote, “Watch #Batwara1947 in cinemas this Partition Day, 14th August.”

Kanikka Kapur’s Bollywood Debut
Batwara 1947 marks Kanikka Kapur’s entry into Bollywood. Before stepping into films, she gained recognition through television and digital projects.
She appeared as Suman Tiwari in the TV series Ek Duje Ke Vaaste 2 and later worked in web projects including Dono, Modern Parivar, and Murderbad.
The film features a strong cast including Sunny Deol, Preity Zinta, Shabana Azmi, Ali Fazal, Karan Deol, and Kanikka Kapur. The movie explores the emotional events surrounding the Partition era.
Dharmendra’s Special Connection With The Film
Director Rajkumar Santoshi recently revealed that Batwara 1947 held a special place for legendary actor Dharmendra.
According to Santoshi, Dharmendra watched the film before his passing and became emotional after hearing the story. The filmmaker said the veteran actor praised the project and expressed confidence in its success.
Batwara 1947 is scheduled to release in cinemas on August 14, 2026, and has already generated curiosity among Bollywood audiences due to its historical theme and star-studded cast.
